Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

No
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. Utilizing cameras or sensors to monitor lane markings on the road, LDW detects when the vehicle crosses these lines and triggers visual, auditory, or haptic alerts to notify the driver of potential lane departure.

Complaint:
"on may 6, 2017, our 2007 chevrolet colorado was driven approximately 400 miles with several stops and turned off with no problems. once we arrived at destination, said vehicle was parked in driveway of relative's home. lapse time of about an hour, then the truck would not start. nothing electrical worked. after leaving the truck overnight, the next morning the truck started up and ran as if nothing ever happened. we returned the 400 miles home without incident. a month later, (6/12/17) the truck was driven about 5 miles, parked, turned off at a grocery store. approximately 30 minutes of shopping, returned to truck and it would not start. had to leave it there and hopefully it will start in the morning. i am deeply concerned about complaints i have encountered on several websites about these vehicles. it appears that this in not an uncommon problem with the chevrolet colorado. it also appears as if no problem has been acknowledged by chevrolet nor a recall has been issued. after much research i can find no definitive solution to the problem. surely chevrolet could at least give us a fix for this problem as it has caused all kinds of inconvenient situations and life threatening incidents when the truck decides to quit running at interstate speeds."

Complaint:
"this is a safety issue as the vehicle (many 2007 colorado's at least from review of the nhtsa complaint page & discussion with other users) fails to start, sometimes once, sometimes twice, and i have had 4 occasions in a row where the truck failed to start. it appears the anti-theft system engages for no apparent reason resulting in a 10-15 minute "time out" before you can again attempt to start the vehicle. obvious as the anti-theft icon is flashing when you attempt to restart the vehicle. this at first was simply an inconvenience, but now it is not only frustrating, it is dangerous should you have to need this vehicle in a emergency (evacuation from your home or a medical emergency). this had first started to be once every few weeks, and now that i'm at 61,500 miles, it has been more frequent (once it happened 4 times in a row) almost 3-4 times per week. you can't be expected to change your schedule to go to work or just use the vehicle to carry on your life 30-40 minutes earlier than you already do just in case the vehicle fails to start; or be able to use this vehicle with any reliability in an emergency. spoke with a local chevy dealer repair shop on the phone months ago and they basically said they were not aware of this type of issue and most likely couldn't resolve it as it is an intermittent problem."

Recalls for the 2007 Chevrolet COLORADO

Component Recalls

Choose a component to see what recalls people have made about them.

Recall:
"gm is recalling certain model year 2004-2011, chevrolet colorado, gmc canyon, model year 2006, isuzu i-280/i-350, and model year 2007-2008, i-290/i-370, regular cab vehicles and extended cab vehicles without a rear seat and equipped with a front 60/40 split bench seat. these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 225, "child restraint anchorage systems." the top tether anchor for the front center seat is not accessible and the owner manual does not include instructions regarding how to use the top tether."
Consequence:
BOTH NHTSA AND GM DISCOURAGE PLACEMENT OF A CHILD IN A FRONT SEAT. NEVERTHELESS, THERE ARE INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCES THAT MAY REQUIRE PLACEMENT OF A CHILD IN A RESTRAINT IN THE FRONT CENTER SEATING POSITION OF THIS VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT OFFER A REAR SEAT. LACK OF ACCESS TO THE TOP TETHER ANCHOR AND A LACK OF INSTRUCTIONS AS TO HOW TO USE IT, MAY RESULT IN IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF A CHILD RESTRAINT. IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF A CHILD RESTRAINT CAN RESULT IN A REDUCTION IN THE RESTRAINT'S PERFORMANCE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH AND AN INCREASED RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH TO THE CHILD SEATED IN THE RESTRAINT.
Remedy:

DEALERS WILL CUT A HOLE INTO THE BACK PANEL TRIM COVER TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE TOP TETHER ANCHOR FOR THE FRONT CENTER SEAT POSITION AND WILL PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION AS TO USE IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE FOR THIS CAMPAIGN.
