"tl* the contact owns a 2009 ford edge. while driving 40 mph, the contact heard an explosion under the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that smoke entered the cabin of the vehicle, which hindered his visibility. as a result, the front passenger side of the vehicle crashed into a pole and caught fire underneath the vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. the contact stated that the fire extinguished on its own due to the cold. a fire report was filed. a police report was not filed. the contact sustained lower back and shoulder injuries by striking the bottom of the dashboard. the contact's daughter seated in the rear passenger seat sustained back, neck, and chest injuries, and sustained breathing problems. both occupants sought medical attention. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. the contact called big three auto sales (17020 e 8 mile rd, detroit, mi 48205, (313) 245-0800) and was informed that the vin was associated with nhtsa campaign number: 19v001000 (air bags). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown."
