Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. Complaint:
"when attempting to pass another vehicle without warning the truck will not accelerate causing a hazardous situation. the transmission will attempt to shift into passing gear and the engine will increase in rpm but there is no increase in speed. after a few seconds there is a mild bang and shudder when you let off the foot pedal. there is no way to accelerate enough to pass the vehicle you're attempting to pass unless they slow down for you so the only option is to coast and resume your position behind the vehicle you were attempting to pass. this has now happened at least 3 times that i remember. unfortunately it only needs to happen once in the wrong situation to have potentially deadly consequences. i have returned the vehicle to the dealership and have been advised the transmission software needs to be updated. i've done this twice and now it appears to be needed again after only 3 or 4 months. in addition, while it is not a safety issue, the low speed operation of the transmission is erratic. the software updates seem to address this issue but only for a short time. i can live with the low speed issue, the lack of passing ability is a huge safety issue to me at least. *tr"

Complaint:
"transmission severely slips when downshifting from overdrive...only happens after driving for 2 or more hours. have had it in 3 times, but dealer only would document it once. the first 2 times, they said the car was still breaking in and that it would settle in after a few more thousand miles. the 3rd time the dealer hooked up equipment and drove it for 5 min, returned and said no problem found. i filed complaint with ford. they called dealer, called me back and said there was no problem. i have a $50k vehicle that can only be driven on short trips. it is very dangerous since it slips and then catches so badly that it feels like someone is literally running into the back of the vehicle.(basically the trans is slipping, but it is tearing up the u joints, and other components as it slips and catches) it would hit so hard when it catches that it would wake up the kids on our trip to fl (1100 miles each way) every time the cruise control would try to maintain speed on any incline. looks like all the media around ford finally having quality vehicles and having changed to a true customer service oriented company are false. if nhtsa can't assist, then once i can get it paid down enough to break even, i'll trade it in on a suburban or toyota. i'm done with ford...don't take your chances, buy something else. *tr"
