2005 Ford EXPEDITION - Ratings, Complaints and Recalls

The 2005 Ford Expedition has not been rated for overall safety by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). However, it received the highest rating of 5 stars for both the front crash driver side and front crash passenger side. This suggests that the car provides excellent protection for occupants in the event of a frontal collision. Unfortunately, other safety aspects such as overall side crash rating, side crash driver's side rating, and side crash passenger side rating are not rated.

It is worth mentioning that this Ford Expedition model offers optional electronic stability control, which can help drivers maintain control of the vehicle during challenging driving conditions. On the other hand, it does not feature forward collision warning or lane departure warning systems, which could have provided additional safety features for preventing accidents.

In terms of complaints and recalls, the vehicle has a relatively high number of complaints, with 314 reported. Additionally, there have been 5 recalls associated with this model, indicating potential issues that needed to be addressed by the manufacturer. Overall, while the Ford Expedition received excellent ratings in frontal crash tests, the lack of complete safety ratings and the presence of a significant number of complaints and recalls suggest that potential buyers should conduct thorough research before considering this vehicle for purchase.

Safety Features

2005 Ford Expedition 4-DR. Safety Features

Here are the safety features that come as standard on the 2005 Ford Expedition 4-DR.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

ESC is an advanced safety feature in vehicles designed to help drivers maintain control during challenging driving conditions. By continuously monitoring various factors such as steering angle, vehicle speed, and individual wheel speeds, ESC can detect and reduce the risk of skidding or loss of control. It achieves this by automatically applying brakes to specific wheels to stabilize the vehicle.

Optional
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

No
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. Utilizing cameras or sensors to monitor lane markings on the road, LDW detects when the vehicle crosses these lines and triggers visual, auditory, or haptic alerts to notify the driver of potential lane departure.
