Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

Complaint:
"my 2022 ford hybrid maverick truck has been experiencing what is referred to as grabby brakes by the maverick truck club (mtc) maverick owners. at low speeds, 2-5 mph, the brakes suddenly activate and slams the truck to a stop and passengers are thrown forward. there was and article from [xxx] that reported that there is a technical service bulletin [xxxx] from ford motor company that addresses the issue. i cannot validate this information. i did take the truck (2 times) down to the local dealership and was met with anything other than my concern. after mentioning the tsb [xxx] i was told that the tsb was no longer valid and the short answer was there was nothing currently on the issue and was not looking into it citing , "there was nothing from ford". there are no indications that the vehicle is about to slam the brakes on. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)"

Complaint:
""grabby" brakes. at low speeds, approximately 5-10mph, when i gently apply the brakes, the brakes suddenly and without warning catch or "lock up" as if slamming on the brakes. it's a jolting experience and can be dangerous if another vehicle is following close behind and my brakes lock up for no apparent reason. there are no warning lamps or messages. this braking malfunction began the first day i took delivery."

Complaint:
"i have a 2022 ford maverick, 2.0 ecoboost engine, awd. i have been having brake problems since the beginning. the problem is the front brakes do not back out enough to leave a proper air gap between the brake pad and rotor when deactivating the service mode. therefore the pads keep riding on the rotors causing glazing and grabby brakes when coming to a stop behind a vehicle. turning off the active breaking did help with the grabby brakes when stopping behind a vehicle, but did not resolve the glazing issue. i took the truck into two dealerships and the techs. could not find a solution. the front calipers, front brake hoses and the brake master cylinder have been replaced with no success. maybe the solution is to adjust the air gap settings somewhere in the software."

Complaint:
"* grabby brakes at low speed and light braking. * it makes slow speed braking unpredictable. you push on the brakes and get very little braking, add more brakes and still very little braking, add more pressure and then suddenly you get extreme braking like slamming on the brakes. brakes are not progressive at low speed. * yes i've taken it to the ford dealer (team ford lincoln in las vegas) at least 3 times for unrelated issues and every time i complain about the unpredictable braking and every time they claim they can't reproduce the issue. the last time i even email them the ford service bulletin 22-2493 which talks about the exhaust gas recirculation sensor and they say this sensor can contribute to brake grab. but even after they replaced the egr sensor i still have gotten low speed brake grab. * i have over 30,000 miles on the truck now and the low speed brake grab has remained exactly the same since i bought it new. it happens probably once a week. some additional info. video about the issue. https://youtu.be/fy7drygwvg0 forum post talking about the issue. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/tsb-22-2493-issued-for-2-5l-hybrid-maverick-grabby-brakes-at-or-below-6-2-mph.24977/ ford need to address this issue because the inconsistent brakes in parking lot speeds is a serious problem that needs to be acknowledged and fixed."
