2006 GMC Envoy XL 4-DR Safety Features

Here are the safety features that come as standard on the 2006 GMC Envoy XL 4-DR

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

ESC is an advanced safety feature in vehicles designed to help drivers maintain control during challenging driving conditions. It achieves this by automatically applying brakes to specific wheels to stabilize the vehicle.

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

No
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. Complaint:
"at every fillup we can smell gas like there is a fuel leak. i had a shop do a fog test and they confirmed a leak "somewhere from the top of the tank". the tank would need to be dropped to visually inspect at a cost of $400-$500 just for the dropping of the tank. then there would be added costs to repair whatever is causing the leak and smell of gas. after hearing that i came home to start my searching for recalls & safety notices to find that gm had a notice issued as well as the nhtsa, but it seems they cut the year off at 2004 & 120,000 miles. according to the thread below, it appears this was extended to vehicle under 150,000 miles which we are well under, but we don't have a 2002-2004 model. thread - http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=22530 vin - [xxx] a vin search for this envoy didn't bring up the fuel leak issues, but we can smell gas & confirmed a leak exists on the top of the tank somewhere. was this problem ever reported for newer models yet? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr"

Complaint:
"hi, i have a problem with the gas meter on my gmc envoy 2006. it has 38,000 miles. the gas gauge shows that the gas tank is empty even though i fill it up. when i start the engine the gauge goes shows that the tank is full, after a few minutes of driving it goes all the way down to empty and i get the signal that the tank is empty. my concern is about if there is any recall on that because it only has 38,000 miles. i was also checking online and found a lot of complaints for the same problem. i believe gm should be responsible for this matter because it is a sign of a defected part. this problem started happening on january 30, 2016; my main concern is getting stuck in traffic and possibly get in an accident due to the gas gauge is misreading. thank you for taking the time to read my complaint. *tr"

Complaint:
"ran out of gas with the fuel gauge reading half full (vehicle had approx 50k mileage). after putting a couple of gallons in the tank went to the gas station and filled the tank. when the vehicle was started the gauge bounced to full and then to empty. it began bouncing up and down continuously, sometimes settling at half full or at empty. it continues to do this today (9/16/13) but mostly stays on empty with the fuel gauge light on all the time regardless of how much gas is in the tank. we now use the trip odometer to gauge the distance we travel so we know when to refuel. we were told by our dealer that it was the fuel sensor and would cost around $600-$700 to repair. *tr"

"fuel gauge reads empty even when tank is full. first noticed issue several months ago, after filling the tank. the gauge would begin reading correctly after driving for a while. ran out of fuel in feb. due to inaccurate reading. currently gauge has been reading empty for 4 weeks, even after several trips to the gas station. *tr"

Complaint:
"i was driving down a hill at approximately 45 miles per hour, when suddenly my envoy just shut off. the vehicle did not accelerate when i pressed on the gas, so i pulled into the first side road to avoid being stuck on a main roadway and when i turned, i had a difficult time turning because the vehicle was off, actually i turned into the wrong side of the road ( thank god there was no incoming traffic). i let my envoy glide as far as it would go until i felt it was some what safe. parked the envoy, then tried to turn it back on, the engine would turn over, but would not turn on. i had the towing co. stop at autozone to look into the lit check engine light and they came up with code p0463, failed fuel sending unit. this was a very scary situation for i could of gotten into a fatal accident!!! *tr"

Complaint:
"noticed that the fuel gauge for the past week has been acting very strange. i had a half tank of gas and drive very little daily (maybe 10 miles) and in 3 days it went from 1/2 tank to empty. i actually thought my gas was leaking out, but no gas spots or leaks. now, it was on empty, light came on, and started to bing, and the engine light is on also. i filled the car up and fuel light is still on and so is the engine light. indicating a problem at the fuel gage. i love this car, i have never loved a car more...but, now reading all the huge number of people having the same problems...and the cost to have it fixed is wayyyyyyyyy more than i can pay or afford. i have been trying to figure out how i am going to pay the first half of my re taxes and my home owners insurance, i used to work for years with auto dealers and with this amount of complaints, the manufacture normally does a recall and fixes this problem. my concern is, if i keep driving it without getting it fixed will i create more problems and the bigger problem is how do i know when i am on empty since it is now always on empty?????? *tr"

Consequence:
A short in the circuit board could lead to a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury. A fire could occur even while the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made.
Remedy:

GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the part number on the door module, and install a new door module if necessary, free of charge. Parts for the remedy are not currently available. Recall:
"general motors llc (gm) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 buick rainier, chevrolet trailblazer and gmc envoy vehicles, and 2006 gmc envoy xl and chevrolet trailblazer ext vehicles. fluid may enter into the driver's door master power window switch module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board, causing window switches to become inoperative. previously, the affected vehicles may have had their master power window switch module treated with a protective coating, instead of having it replaced."
