"takata recall. we called lexus of fife in november of 2017 when we received notification the airbag replacements were available. as of this date of january 21st 2018 we have not had a fix. when we called the first of the year we were told we we #51 on the list. we called again mid month and were told the same thing #51. there seems to be no sense of urgency to solve this issue. we are scheduled to drive to southern california for a wedding in mid february 2018 and i would like this issue resolved before we drive that far. if this is a deadly issue shouldn't it be a priority to solve it. while i understand lexus of fife can't do free work all day there should be another option to fix this problem asap."

"tl* the contact owns a 2007 lexus es350. the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator was constantly illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (hendrick toyota north charleston, 7151 rivers avenue, north charleston, sc 29406) where it was diagnosed that the ecu failed and needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired, but the part did not calibrate with the computer software. the local dealer informed the contact that the parts were no longer available due to the age of the vehicle. the contact was instructed not to drive the vehicle due to the air bags not deploying in the event of a crash. the manufacturer was notified and confirmed the information provided by the local dealer. the failure mileage was approximately 41,379."

Consequence:
An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy:

Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front driver inflator, front passenger airbag inflator, the airbag assembly, or the front passenger airbag sub-assembly and inflator. The recall began November 20, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are J0A, J0B, and J0C. Lexus' numbers for this recall are JLI, JLJ, and JLK.
