2005 Mazda MPV - Ratings, Complaints and Recalls

The 2005 Mazda MPV has received excellent ratings for front and side crash protection, with a rating of 5 for both the driver and passenger sides in each category. However, the overall safety rating is listed as "Not Rated." This suggests that there may be some aspects of safety that have not been fully evaluated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Unfortunately, this particular model does not come equipped with electronic stability control, forward collision warning, or lane departure warning systems, which are advanced safety features that can help prevent accidents.

Additionally, there have been a significant number of complaints filed regarding this vehicle, with a total of 42 complaints reported. In terms of recalls, there have been three recalls issued for the 2005 Mazda MPV, indicating potential safety issues that needed to be addressed by the manufacturer.

In conclusion, while the 2005 Mazda MPV shows strong crash test performance in certain areas, the lack of an overall safety rating and advanced safety features, coupled with a notable number of complaints and recalls, may raise concerns about the vehicle's overall safety.

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

No
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. Utilizing cameras or sensors to monitor lane markings on the road, LDW detects when the vehicle crosses these lines and triggers visual, auditory, or haptic alerts to notify the driver of potential lane departure.

"my vehicle is listed in the oct 22, 2014 nhtsa press release as being included in the takata airbag recall. i contacted mazda customer experience (800) 222-5500 on oct 23 but, after a few days, i was told that my vehicle is not on their database and that i should contact the dealer in guam, triple j motors (671) 648-2277, where i originally purchased my vehicle. the dealer responded to me via email on oct 29, stating that according to mazda, the airbag recall "is only extended to vehicles purchased in hawaii, puerto rico and the virgin islands". i'm not sure if mazda is correct in excluding guam because according to the nhtsa press release it "appears to be a problem related to extended exposure to consistently high humidity and temperatures" and the regional recall included guam in the list of areas. please verify this and let me know. i am currently not driving the vehicle in fear of the safety of my family. thank you for your attention. *tr"
