2009 Nissan CUBE - Ratings, Complaints and Recalls

The 2009 Nissan Cube w/SAB (Early Release) has a mixed safety rating based on the available data. It received a 4-star rating for both the driver and passenger sides in front crash testing, while achieving an impressive 5-star rating on the driver's side in side crash testing. Sadly, the overall safety rating is listed as "Not Rated," which leaves some uncertainty about its overall safety performance.

In terms of safety features, the Nissan Cube comes equipped with standard electronic stability control, which can greatly enhance the vehicle's stability and help prevent accidents. However, it lacks both forward collision warning and lane departure warning systems, which could provide additional safety benefits by alerting the driver to potential hazards on the road.

Furthermore, the vehicle has a notable number of complaints, with a count of 96, indicating some dissatisfaction or issues reported by drivers or owners. Additionally, the Nissan Cube has been subject to 2 recalls, suggesting that there were manufacturing defects or safety concerns that needed to be addressed by the manufacturer.

In summary, while the Nissan Cube possesses some positive safety attributes such as electronic stability control and strong performance in certain crash tests, the lack of an overall safety rating, along with the absence of advanced warning systems and the presence of complaints and recalls, may raise some concerns about its safety performance overall.

Safety Features

2009 Nissan Cube w/SAB (Early Release) Safety Features

Here are the safety features that come as standard on the 2009 Nissan Cube w/SAB (Early Release)

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

ESC is an advanced safety feature in vehicles designed to help drivers maintain control during challenging driving conditions. By continuously monitoring various factors such as steering angle, vehicle speed, and individual wheel speeds, ESC can detect and reduce the risk of skidding or loss of control. It achieves this by automatically applying brakes to specific wheels to stabilize the vehicle.

Standard
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

No
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. Utilizing cameras or sensors to monitor lane markings on the road, LDW detects when the vehicle crosses these lines and triggers visual, auditory, or haptic alerts to notify the driver of potential lane departure.

Component Recalls

Choose a component to see what recalls people have made about them.

Recall:
"nissan is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of connecticut, delaware, iowa, illinois, indiana, massachusetts, maine, maryland, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, washington d.c., west virginia and wisconsin. the material in the nut used to secure the sensor-transmitter of the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) may corrode and potentially crack in areas with heavy concentrations of road salt. if this occurs, the nut may come out of the sensor-transmitter and the tpms lamp will illuminate."
Consequence:
IF THE TPMS LAMP IS DISREGARDED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO BE DRIVEN IN THIS CONDITION, THE TIRE WILL QUICKLY LOSE AIR PRESSURE AT A CONSISTENT RATE RESULTING IN A FLAT TIRE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy:

THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE TPMS NUT WITH A NEW, MORE ROBUST NUT. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 9, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261 AND INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.
