Safety Features

2011 Nissan Murano SUV FWD Safety Features

Here are the safety features that come as standard on the 2011 Nissan Murano SUV FWD

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

ESC is an advanced safety feature in vehicles designed to help drivers maintain control during challenging driving conditions. By continuously monitoring various factors such as steering angle, vehicle speed, and individual wheel speeds, ESC can detect and reduce the risk of skidding or loss of control. It achieves this by automatically applying brakes to specific wheels to stabilize the vehicle.

Standard
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

No
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. Utilizing cameras or sensors to monitor lane markings on the road, LDW detects when the vehicle crosses these lines and triggers visual, auditory, or haptic alerts to notify the driver of potential lane departure.

Complaint:
"the brake pedal has suddenly become very unpredictable. sometimes when depressing it they start engaging where they normally would & sometimes you have to depress it all the way to the floor to get it to stop. my daughter informed me of the problem so i drove it to pick up pizza. when parking at the pizza place it happened to me..... i jumped a sidewalk curb almost hit people walking on the other side because the brakes didn't engauge in time. my problem has not been confirmed by a dealer service center but the exact same problem is listed with the 2009 murano & has been recalled because of a reaction with a metal plating turning the brake fluid to a gelatin solution after 10 years. this 2009 murano recall was in 2019. my murano is 10 years old now. & has under 80,000 miles & had new brake pads put on 15,000 miles ago even though they didn't show much wear. i live in a rural area & the closest nissan dealer over 50 miles away so i can't just drop by a nissan dealership. no warning lights have come on with this vehicle as of yet. this murano is my 16 year old daughters & she is not very tall so she is not able to depress the brakes far enough to stop when this happens. i have had to park the murano until we get this problem resolved. please respond with how i can resolve this braking problem. thanks"

"for the second time my anti-lock brakes have gone out and the paddle for the break goes all the way to the floor. it barely stops and i'm afraid it's going to happen where it doesn't allow me time to stop. this should be a recall. from other complaints found on the internet many people are having the same problem."

Complaint:
"my car is working perfectly fine and with oil change at nissan dealer (30 days back), i found no issues. today, while driving at 30-35 mph, the brakes pedal went all the way to the floor and car did not stop easily on the turn. i was almost going to hit another car but survived. there was no pressure in the break pedal at all. the same thing happened year or so ago but did not report the issue thinking this might be due to break pad etc. but it happened again and now i don't even want to take out car on the road. i called nissan north america after reading same issues on internet and their response was plain - "there is no recall on this vehicle" and you have to check with dealer and fix at your own cost. my question is - if there are so many complaints on the same issue and have recall with same model for 2009, how come 2011 model is not on the recall? are there any #of complaints/accidents need to be reported before nissan takes any action?"

Complaint:
"over the last year, for some reason the brakes pedal will go almost all the way to the floor when attempting to stop the vehicle. this happens from time to time and will cease after a few hours or a day or so and the brakes will return to operating normally. we have had the car (suv) checked and inspected multiple times, and each time the mechanics cannot find anything wrong. i have read of other owners of the same make and year vehicle who have the same problem and have not been able to resolve it. in our case, we have not rear ended someone (yet), but it appears that others have come very close. we just took the car to the dealership two days ago and the issue reappeared again. while they had it, the brakes were working fine, after we got it home, it started happening again where the brake pedal went all the way to the floor, making it difficult to stop the vehicle. a few hours later, the issue disappeared and the brakes were working fine. help please, before a family gets seriously injured or a family gets killed."

Complaint:
"several months ago, we drove over a big dip in the road. as we came upon a stop sign just past the dip, the brakes went all the way to the floor before coming to a stop. the brakes continued to push to the floor for several days afterwards before finally going back to normal. a couple of months later, the same problem happened after going over a bump. this has happened several times over the past several months. however, the last time it happened, the brakes never got better. i took my murano to a brake mechanic. they did diagnostic testing which showed the left front and right rear are not compressing. they believe the problem is a faulty hydraulic control unit. the 2009 murano was recalled for this same issue. the 2011's should be also. *tr"

Complaint:
"on feb. 6th 2020 i was driving my 2011 nissan murano (62,000 miles) at 55 mph when i came upon some traffic. when i applied the breaks they went to the floor & i had to pull onto the grass & pump the brakes till the car finally came to a stop. i was 250 miles from home so i stopped at a firestone store to check out my brakes. 5 hours later, the car was ready--they bled the air from the brake lines & when i got back on the road everything was okay. on may 29th, 2020, i was driving & coming on to a road construction crew. i went over 2 sets of speed bumps & when i applied the breaks, they went to the floor. i pumped the brakes & applied the emergency brake to stop the car because there was traffic stopped in front of me. i took the car to my local mechanic & they installed a new master cylinder & bled the brake lines 3 different times. they had the car for 1 week & the car would not stop at slow speeds till the brake pedal was almost to the floor. the car is not safe to drive. on the internet, i can see the numerous complaints about braking on the 2011 murano. there was a recall on the 2009 models & i think the 2015 models. nissan needs to step up & correct the problem on the 2011 models. this is a very dangerous situation that requires a recall of the 2011 models. right now the vehicle is sitting in the garage because the dealership is 65 miles away & the car is not safe to drive. *tr"
