2023 Toyota TUNDRA PU/EC 2WD Safety Features

Here are the safety features that come as standard on the 2023 Toyota TUNDRA PU/EC 2WD

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

Standard
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. "enterprise rented me recalled car. i asked about check engine light and they said it was for oil change. kept for 30 days renting it twice."
Components Involved: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Date of incident: 2025-02-12

Complaint:
"when i drive the vehicle for a period of time and use a 1/3 of the fuel in the vehicle and park on non level surface: meaning the front of the vehicle is pointed up and rear is lower the fuel gauge will register full on vehicle restart. even if i drive the vehicle around and park it on a level surface and restart the vehicle it still fails to show the correct amount of fuel in the vehicle. in addition it will slowly subtract fuel based upon driving that is inline with normal fuel usage: it never registers that you are actually 1/3 lower then indicated on the gas gauge. i have identify two ways to address the issue of the gauge not registering the correct amount of fuel in the tank: 1) refill the truck with maximum amount of fuel 2) disconnect the negative battery terminal, let the truck sit for 30 seconds, and then reconnect the negative battery terminal. it will then register the correct amount of fuel in the truck the safety concern is i could run out of gas in unsafe manner on the road."
Components Involved: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Date of incident: 2024-11-12

Complaint:
"on multiple occasions my fuel gauge has randomly reset from 3/4 full to above full. had i not noticed this change i could have run out of gas. toyota refuses to do anything about this and i have reported this to corporate and two different dealerships. taken it in for repairs 4 times. they tell me there is nothing they can do???"
Components Involved: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

"fuel gauge is always showing incorrect levels. when fueld up to full at times the gauge will show 1/2 tank to 1/4. then other times if i know i have 1/4 tank of fuel left the gauge will show as full tank. very unreliable and concerned whether i have a fuel leak or what not"

"wear on the plastic fuel tube."
Components Involved: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Date of incident: 2023-01-11

Complaint:
"[xxx] - after driving the truck for less than six months (with only one key fob) i was notified via the toyota mobile app on august 10, that my truck had a safety recall for the fuel line with limited information provided through the toyota mobile app. at no time was i advised that the vehicle was unsafe to operate. upon bringing my vehicle into mcgeorge toyota on august 28, 2023 for the standard 5,000-mile service, i requested that the dealer address the recall by making a temporary remedy to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle until the permanent remedy was determined. at that time, the service representative advised me that toyota (manufacturer), has provided no direction nor materials to make either the temporary or permanent repairs to the truck. i asked what would be done to make this right and they advised me that they would contact me when the remedy was available and there was no additional action at that time. not feeling satisfied with that unsafe resolution which i interpreted as an implication that i should continue to drive the vehicle until the remedy was available, i called the toyota brand engagement center and the advocate advised me that i could request a loaner vehicle. upon speaking with chris wiltshire, the service manager at mcgeorge, i suggested that the advocate informed me i could request a loaner vehicle. the loaner was not of like kind, function, or value compared to my tundra. the remedy has not been completed and the truck has been sitting on the dealer lot since august. the dealer refuses to provide a comparable loaner, coordinate a comparable rental or refund the purchase price of the truck. the manufacturer refuses to commit to covering full rental or refunding purchase price of truck. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)"

Complaint:
"i fueled my vehicle and once i started my car my fuel gauge remained the same, as if i never put full. i turned off the my vehicle and stared it again. the fuel level still did not change. i went to another pump to see if there was actual fuel from the other pump that went into the vehicle. the other pump stopped right away, signaling i had a full tank. i drove around for 15 minutes but no change to the fuel gauge. i parked the vehicle at home and planned to take it into the dealership the following day, but my fuel gauge corrected it self later displaying a full tank. i’ve seen in the forums this has been a problem. there was no warning lights or cels upon this problem."
