"tl* the contact owns a 2007 buick terraza cxl. while driving approximately 35 mph, the driver side automatic sliding door opened erroneously. the contact was able to maneuver to the side of the road to secure the door. the failure also recurred at different times while the vehicle was parked. the sliding power door cable was disconnected and the door was manually engaged in order to enter or exit the vehicle. there was an open and closed investigation related to the defect pertaining to a 2007 chevrolet uplander. the nhtsa action number was ea07019 ((structure; latches/locks/linkages: doors: latch). the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. the contact planned to notify the manufacturer of the problem. the approximate mileage was 60,000. updated 4/2/12 *cn as of 03/22/12 the vehicle was repaired."

"tl* the contact owns a 2007 buick terraza. the contact stated that the vehicle's automatic sliding doors have been repaired seven times. the doors open erratically and will open when the vehicle is locked. they will also come open while she is driving. the dealer has replaced motors, sensors and other items and the failure is still present. this failure is present on the driver's side and passenger's side. the contact drives her grand children in the vehicle and is concerned about the doors opening when the children are in the vehicle. the owner wants gm to buy the vehicle back, but they will not. they offered to extend the warranty on the doors but the contact stated the warranty is no good if the doors do not work. the failure mileage was 8,800. the current mileage was 30,000."

"dorman is recalling 979 steering knuckles, dorman p/nos. 697-902 and 697-903, sold under dorman's "oe solutions<sup>tm</sup>" brand name, and napa p/nos. 7-8502 and 7-8503 which were sold for replacement use on the various vehicles listed above. a potential material or design defect could result in the steering knuckle breaking in the hub area."

A BROKEN STEERING KNUCKLE COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND A POSSIBLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
Remedy:

DORMAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE STEERING KNUCKLES FREE OF CHARGE AND REIMBURSE THE REPAIR FACILITY OR OWNER FOR LABOR. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 23, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DORMAN'S TOLL-FREE HOTLINE AT 1-800-523-2492 AND PRESS 5.
