2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV RWD Safety Features

Here are the safety features that come as standard on the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV RWD

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

ESC is an advanced safety feature in vehicles designed to help drivers maintain control during challenging driving conditions. By continuously monitoring various factors such as steering angle, vehicle speed, and individual wheel speeds, ESC can detect and reduce the risk of skidding or loss of control. It achieves this by automatically applying brakes to specific wheels to stabilize the vehicle.

Standard
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

Standard
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. Utilizing cameras or sensors to monitor lane markings on the road, LDW detects when the vehicle crosses these lines and triggers visual, auditory, or haptic alerts to notify the driver of potential lane departure.

"display gave warning - service vehicle soon and car did not start after being parked for about an hour. outside temp was 65f. car was driven about 400 miles that day including dcfc once. had to be towed to dealership where it has sat for over 3 weeks with no repair and no information about what is wrong. i had someone familiar with the ford system look up the codes who found that there was likely a problem with hvbjb that now is recalled. not sure what to do anymore since dealership has car for 3 weeks now."

"while driving, the range on the electric battery went from 150 miles to only 64 miles in less than a minute. when i went to the dc fast charger it gave error and could not charge even after i verified that the fast charger was operational because the next car was able to charge car with no issue. after a while when i charged the car, it started charging but drastically reduced the battery range. i have attached the picture. at 78% it only gave me 76 miles range. usually at 78% it gives me a 180 miles or higher. took my car to the dealer to run diagnostics and dealer don't seem to agree to any battery issue."

"ford delivered the car with only one key fob which was corrected in later builds of the car. to fix this they had a program where you could go to your dealer to get the second key fob for free. i set up an appointment to go to the dealer and was reassured that even though the date was after the expiration of the program i would still get the second key for free. when i went in i was told this was untrue and every ford representative has told me that even though i was lied to they would not fix things for free as it should be with the program. eventually i was told to contact nhtsa about this issue. i currently have to use my phone as a key which has become increasingly unreliable requiring my backup code often to be entered into the car even when my phone is on and has the fordpass app open to act like a key. this has caused issues with when i shift out of drive or reverse that it places itself in park asking for the backup code to be entered again before i can continue driving."

Complaint:
"i want to draw attention to a significant concern: u.s. auto safety regulators announced in august of this year that they are currently investigating whether ford motor's 2022 recall of nearly 49,000 ford mustang mach-e electric vehicles comprehensively addressed the associated safety concerns. the basis for the 2022 recall was that the high voltage battery main contactors could overheat, particularly from dc fast-charging and repeated wide-open pedal events. this overheating presents a very real danger as it could result in an immediate loss of power, markedly increasing the risk of a vehicular accident. furthermore, after the recall, ford issued a technical service bulletin, directing the replacement of the high voltage battery junction box on the recalled vehicles. however, the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) has since opened a recall query. this action was prompted by 12 consumer complaints related to mach-e vehicles that had supposedly received the necessary recall fixes. it is worth noting that the high voltage battery junction box has been replaced on my mach-e already, and i am still facing problems. this is my third encounter with this particular safety issue."

Complaint:
"the charging port on my mach-e is failing. i am unable to change at the manufacture reported limit of 48 amps. if i try to charge my mach-e at any rate higher than 32 amps, it will unexpectedly stop charging within 30 minutes, and only change the car 2% or 3% per charging session. once i derate my evse to 32 amps, then my mach-e can fully charge up to the 80% limit that i have set in the car within a single charge session. several others have reported the same issue on the following forum post: [xxx] . it seems to be an issue with the temperature sensor in the charge port failing prematurely. i can confirm that the charging issue can occur outside of environmental factors like during a hot summer day. i usually charge during the late evening and at night, around 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and the car always stops charging within 30 minutes. i have even charged successfully at a public l2 charger during the day when the charging cord handle was in direct sun light, and was hot to the touch. so the failure seems directly related to the charge rate. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)"
