2014 Nissan Versa 4 DR FWD Safety Features

Here are the safety features that come as standard on the 2014 Nissan Versa 4 DR FWD

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

ESC is an advanced safety feature in vehicles designed to help drivers maintain control during challenging driving conditions. By continuously monitoring various factors such as steering angle, vehicle speed, and individual wheel speeds, ESC can detect and reduce the risk of skidding or loss of control. It achieves this by automatically applying brakes to specific wheels to stabilize the vehicle.

Standard
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) is a safety feature in vehicles that helps prevent frontal collisions by alerting the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead. Using sensors such as radar or cameras, FCW monitors the distance and speed of vehicles in front, and if it detects a potential collision, it provides visual and/or auditory warnings to prompt the driver to take evasive action.

No
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a safety feature in vehicles that alerts drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane without signaling. Utilizing cameras or sensors to monitor lane markings on the road, LDW detects when the vehicle crosses these lines and triggers visual, auditory, or haptic alerts to notify the driver of potential lane departure.

Complaint:
"my transmission went out pre-maturely on the high way and i almost got rear-ended. it’s a cvt transmission which has had a class action lawsuit which i wasn’t aware of when i bought car in 2020. nissan should hold more responsibility but they refuse to help my basically totaled car."

Complaint:
"at approximately 130k miles the cvt transmission had a sudden failure. struggles to shift gears properly and often will pick a random one, which causes further damaged. vehicle has sat for years, the transmission is unrepairable and a new unit must be installed which cost around $3500 for the transmission alone not including labor as told by the nissan dealership. i now sit with a giant paper weight that is useless and worth nothing. manufacturer should be held responsible as this issue exists and has been recalled in other models and years with the same transmission or issue."

Complaint:
"the car is constantly jerking and losing power. the car has been towed for not responding after acceleration. mechanic has told me it is the transmission. car only has roughly 86k miles on it. not safe to drive at all."
Components Involved: POWER TRAIN
Date of incident: 2025-06-07

Complaint:
"when reaching speeds around 20 mph, usually on turning corners, car feels like its 'skipping' not catching (so this could be like when picking up speed after reducing speed). i'm currently having wheel bearings replaced and the certified mechanic working on it says it appears to be transmission related and recommended me to take it to nissan as he assumed (wrongly!) that it should still be covered under warranty. the vehicle has 71,000 miles. this issue doesn't always appear and is random as to showing up, but it is frequent."

Date of incident: 2023-01-04

Complaint:
"the contact owns a 2014 nissan versa. the contact stated that after reversing out of a parking space, while attempting to shift into drive(d), the contact discovered that the transmission failed to shift into drive(d). the vehicle was undrivable and was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined there was no transmission fluid inside the cvt transmission. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, who confirmed a failure with the cvt transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. the failure mileage was 83,700."

Date of incident: 2023-03-02

Complaint:
"transmission acts up every time i accelerate to 30-35mph. must remove foot from gas until rpms go down to at least 2(if i'm lucky). if this process is not done the car continues to get louder and doesn't perform properly. i have two kids that i regularly take to school and other places so this is a big problem. also if car is going 15mph or slower it's the same process. this started happening about 6 months after purchasing the vehicle. odometer reading at time of purchase 75,500"

Date of incident: 2021-01-10

Complaint:
"the contact owns a 2014 nissan versa the contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed the vehicle started to have issues with changing from one gear to another. the contact stated that he had just left the dealer from getting his transmission serviced and then the transmission failed. there was no warning prior to the failure. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and diagnosed as the transmission needing replacement. the vehicle has been repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and told the contact they would be responsible for repairs. the failure mileage was approximately 119,000."
Components Involved: POWER TRAIN
Date of incident: 2023-02-02

Complaint:
"when i first bouth this car used in 2020, the car suddenly begins accellerating rapidly but going nowhere while driving and i had the transmission replaced very soon after 68000 miles but, luckily it was under warranty. now, less than 2 years after nissan replaced the transmission, i am driving down the interstate and my car starts jumping and going really slow and sluggish to get to the next gear then just takes off normally again. this will happen with the car just driving normally after that then again a shudder and slow down but its never consistent. i took it to nissan again and guess what, the transmission went again. these automotic cvt re0f11a transmissions in nissans are severe safety issues and i have noticed and heard from mechanics all over and on this website even."
